Lady Luck, Downtown Las Vegas, 1976. Salute to artist, designer, art director #JackDuBois who died this summer at age 77. Jack spent a lifetime in sign work, joining Ad-Art as a student in the late 60s. He took a detour after being drafted into the Vietnam war, then went right back to AdArt where he worked often with Charles Barnard creating a number of Las Vegas spectaculars and related renderings including those for The Mirage, Vegas World, Maxim, Fitzgerald’s, El Cortez, and the bullnose & sign facade for Lady Luck which is now a fixture at the Neon Museum. Most of what I know of DuBois comes from the book The Magic Sign, an encyclopedia of Las Vegas neon signs, and the rest from Heather David @hmdavidcalmod who shared that photo of Jack DuBois in front of the Ad-Art sign.
