My whole life all I’ve ever wanted to do is put women on pedestals and to reveal their beauty and strength. I’m so grateful and honoured to have been nominated this year by CAFA as image maker of the year. To be able to create, have peers acknowledge your work and realize a dream is an overwhelming feeling. As an Iranian refugee, I know how different my life could have been had my parents not fled my homeland. At one point I was overwhelmed with sorrow thinking of all the brave and defiant girls and women fighting for their dignity and basic human rights. For the girls whose dreams were never realized, #mahsaamini, #nikashakarami #sarinaesmailzadeh and the countless more who were and are being brutalized, raped and killed in the shadows of this brutal theocracy.
