A remarkable weekend in #Zambia. Very grateful to my colleagues @anthonymarioalfano & @mwandwe16 for their hard work and to our new Europe Board co-chair, and @ifadnews Goodwill Ambassador, @sabrinaelba for joining us. Lots of highlights to share, but a particular highlight was seeing the impact of our advocacy work first hand. In 2020, @GlblCtzn joined @Sabrinadhowre & @idriselba in calling on governments to step up support for farmers through the Rural Poor Stimulus Facility of @IFAD . This was designed to support farmers struggling through the Covid-19 pandemic. Governments like Canada stepped up and responded to the calls of global citizens, pledging new funding for IFAD ‘s Rural Poor Stimulus Facility. This weekend, Sabrina & the Global Citizen team visited Keembe in Chibombo to meet with small scale farmers who received support from this program. We heard their stories and were shown the diverse nutritious food they were able to produce and bring to market as a result.
