🫶🏻 Everything Starts Somewhere (post inspired by @josiebalka) I love family photos – they’re a chance to pause, step outside the daily rush, and really see what’s in front of me. Four humans, deeply connected, and when I look at these photos, I can’t help but marvel at how all of this began with one simple conversation. Mike and I shared a ton of mutual friend, grew up in the same town just 10 minutes apart, but somehow never crossed paths. We had so many people in common, but it wasn’t until our late twenties that fate intervened. He was living in New Brunswick, and I was in Ontario. One summer weekend in 2016, Mike decided to come to Toronto and visit one of those mutual friends for a Jays game and I, freshly out of a personal trainer job, was in need of a night to unwind. That night turned into something unforgettable - one of those nights where you’re having fun, but also thinking, “Wait, are you my husband?” He messaged me the next day, and from there, the rest was history. We did long-distance for what felt like forever - three separate chapters of our journey: first when we met, then when I moved from Toronto to Halifax but he was in Saint John, and again after I had moved to Saint John, but he supported me heading back to Halifax for school. Looking at these photos, I feel so incredibly lucky to have someone who has loved me since day one. I know that sounds crazy but I honestly feel like a part of us loved each other since day one - he made me feel seen and cared for immediately in a way I never had before. Like every couple, we’ve had our ups and downs. Life’s a rollercoaster, after all.
