For this collaboration, I wanted to create a concept that represented Asian girls with wavy textured hair. Traditionally, Asians were thought to have straight, black hair and none of us thought twice about it. As a young girl, I never questioned why I straightened my wavy hair. It wasn't until I was a young woman getting my start that it occurred to me that I could embrace my natural mane.⁠ ⁠ Hair is one of the most common and personal ways that we express ourselves; how we cut it, style it, color it, and wear it, says so much about who we are and the way we speak to the world. The moment I embraced my natural hair was when I discovered the authentic me.
