Still processing so many thoughts and emotions from this past weekend, but I can say with certainty that Honcho Campout was a life changing experience. I’ve always been hesitant to call myself an artist, but I felt truly able to express a deep part of my musical self in a way I haven’t ever done before. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and for the warm reception from friends and strangers. The level of support and encouragement I felt was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. My only regret was not being able to see everyone’s sets (how can you possibly?!), and I can’t wait to hear everyone’s recordings. Every set that I caught was inspirational in different ways. My phone died sometime on Saturday, but I’m happy to have captured a few beautiful moments from @muirjake, @brat_sampson, @sister_zo, @deep_creep, and @analog_soul_. Other highlights were @kiernanlaveaux’s mind-bending sorcery, @glorbis’s gorgeous sonic tapestry, @rroxymore’s masterful Saturday night closer, Tama Sumo and @lakuti_’s joyous marathon set, and closing sets from @davisgalvin and @ciel_dj (who really got me with her SWV closing track) I also couldn’t have made it through the weekend without my amazing camp crew and satellite friends from all over the country. Special thanks also to @ibrake4butterflies_ for being the best artist liaison and dear friend, @dalezworldwide for her endless hard work, @dannyroche for driving me to the forests of Pennsylvania, @ryenbartlett and @homosnaxual for talking me through a moment of panicked anxiety, and the whole @honchopgh staff for an incredible experience.
