tw: funeral photos
I have some thoughts regarding my grandma’s passing and these photos. If you would take a second to read, it would mean a lot to me, but if it’s not the right time for you, I hope you can at least look through these photos of my grandma, 윤을금 (Yoon Eul Geum) and her funeral.
I was actually very hesitant to bring my camera to the funeral to respect my grandma and those who remember her, but I decided to bring it to celebrate her and how she brought people together. I’m actually really glad I brought it, so absent family members could see her beauty and her community.
She looked so beautiful. Like come on. I wanted to immortalize her and her beauty.
When I learned of my grandma’s passing, I was really glad she was in a better place, able to fully understand the beauty of her legacy.
Thank you 할머니 for helping me double down on my calling as a photographer and appreciate on a deeper level, the beauty in creating. Thank you for pushing me to be unapologetic as an artist. I know you’re smiling, looking at how beautifully you were remembered.
I recently had a conversation with a friend about finding purpose in life. One I discovered through the funeral service was that I want to immortalize the beautiful and badass people that exist in the world. In communities near and far.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. I love you. Realize that love is abundant; it’s so powerful; it brings us together and it’s how we’ll change the world! I hope love and joy find you this week.
