Long post, and #TriggerWarning (right photo)
Someone stole the catalytic converter and cut the O2 sensor on my beloved 1998 Chevy Tracker while I was on vacation in July. I was under the impression I could drive to the mechanic, but I learned the hard way that those elements play an instrumental role in #TractionControl when I lost control of my car, and we rolled com👏plete👏ly over, landing right side up.
The last two-months have been a lot, to say the least, so I’d like to take a moment to thank:
- the bystander who called 911 and carefully weighed whether he should leave me inside or remove me from the smoldering car
- the emergency room professionals who thoroughly x-rayed, removed glass, and stitched me up while sharing their own trauma stories
- Kyle for unending love and support
- Cameron and Ellyn for helping me find my new whip
- Kerri for loaning me your whip for two-weeks when I was clearly a liability
- Jayanthi, Alex, and my therapist for helping me process trauma and guiding me on a path to feel safe again
- health insurance (tho fuck the American healthcare system)
- my physical therapist, primary care doctor, acupuncturist, chiropractors, massage therapists, and the network of medical professionals for slowly getting me back on my feet
- Chevrolet seatbelts
- and everyone else who reached out and had me in your thoughts
I am extraordinarily blessed, grateful, and absolutely lucky to be alive.
With that, I’d like to welcome to the stage: my AWD, 7-airbag, crystal white pearl Subaru Crosstrek...Lena Cyst! May we have many *safe* adventures together.
