#stitch with @nurse.conner “shortage” is a term the administration made up to cast blame instead of paying the going rate for nurses ( this goes for doctors, therapists, STNAs and many other hospital personnel). The healthcare system is going towards a collapse ( or at least a severe restructuring , it’s gonna be very interesting how this shakes out, the problem is patients are going to be caught in the middle. This is capitalism in its finest. There is a disconnect between nurses hourly worth, and what businesses are willing to pay them. And healthcare is a business. because the going rate of nurses is going to be so expensive, they’re going to look towards other solutions like Tele nursing, and automation. I think they’re going to break a lot of eggs to make an omelette, because it’s really difficult to replace a nurse with a robot, or even a tele nurse that isn’t actually in the room to help the patient . If you are considering going into healthcare/medicine, look into debt to income ratio, liability insurance, suicide rates ( including attempted) in your target profession, and time invested.
