In praise of trails.
Today is the anniversary of the National Trails System Act of 1968. This act formally established a very important trail that passes right through Crater Lake National Park: the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). The PCT begins in southern California at the Mexican border, and ends 2,650 miles to the north in Washington state at the Canadian border. Most PCT hikers detour up to the Rim Trail to catch views of one of the clearest, deepest, most photogenic lakes in the world: Crater Lake.
Have you hiked the PCT? Tell us about it!
