Dear Topanga and local communities (LA/LA county etc) We are so happy to offer you this unique and fun opportunity to join IG @lamushco & @farrandwild in our collaboration to bring you this very special guided night walk! We will be on a journey together to observe the nightlife of the local chaparral, observing arthropods, arachnids, etc. under UV black light, which, if you have not experienced before, offers us an eerie and other-worldly opportunity for some interesting discussion on scientific theory, as well as unique casual video and photography opportunity, under a black-lit night sky. We will come across many interesting nighttime creatures and potentially some very few out of season fungi?! Either way it will be an adventure, a search, and a journey, and who knows what the nighttime landscapes will reveal to us. Attendance will be placed at $40 per sign up and with that you will get a guided UV tour, as well as the assistance of local expertise while you learn about the creatures that we see and how to use blacklight responsibly, at beginner-level, for photos and videos. A supply of 365nm UV lights will be on hand to borrow first-come-first served (but we will rotate the use UV flashlights, so everyone has the opportunity of their use) and we can recommend a range of these if you’re interested in purchasing for the event. Also if you have a red light flashlight we can use these and our regular flashlights as we move through the terrain and switch between different frequencies of light. Theory behind this will be discussed during the foray! We will meet up first as a group in the center of town and there will be options for people to purchase themselves food or beverage before we head out together, after the sun goes down, and the landscape grows dark.
