“I did not want my tombstone to read, ‘She kept a really clean house.’ I think I’d like them to remember me by saying, ‘She opened government to everyone.’” I think about that Ann Richards quote a lot. Those are boots I could never fill, but I hope that if you get one thing out of Howdy, it’s that as every day Texans, we can make a difference. You don’t have to have connections, money, or a fancy degree to get a seat at the table. You just have to show up. And then keep showing up. Not only do I see you, but I promise you that people at even the highest levels of government see you. Some are afraid of you. Some, like those I met with today, are fighting for you. But make no mistake, they see you. They see Texans. Keep showing up!
