The struggle for working moms to find the balance between “work” and “mom” is real. There's a constant battle that working moms face in dividing their time and attention between work and home. We put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect and succeed as working professionals, as wives, as mothers, and even as friends. Is it even possible to embrace and balance it all? For me, a key ingredient to finding this balance is presence; when I feel completely immersed within the task at hand. At work, I set aside the endless household chores list and remain focused. And with my family, I shift gears, leave my email inbox behind, and give my children undivided attention. This practice can often bring up fear or guilt, thinking that if we’re present and not constantly checking off the tasks and goals list, we are not productive. I’ve personally discovered that being present and engaged allows me to be my most productive self. In the @incmagazine article ‘Productivity vs. Presence’ Samira Far writes that Presence can actually lead to increased productivity. When you're working and engaged, you will make better decisions, produce better quality work and engage with people more meaningfully when you're present.
