‘The fear of having mass executions in Iran is a real fear. The Islamic Republic has a ‘very bloody’ track record’
Protests are continuing in Iran, almost nine weeks after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody in Tehran.
At least 326 protesters, including 43 children and 25 women, have been killed in a violent crackdown by security forces, according to Iran Human Rights. Now, according to state media, a court in Iran has issued the first death sentence to a person arrested for taking part in the protests.
The BBC’s Near East Women’s Affairs Reporter, @faranak_amidi, joined @emmabarnett to discuss what’s going on and bring clarity on some of the stories swirling around on social media. Listen to the full interview on @bbcsounds - it’s the episode from 15 November.
