Officially graduated from/with my 4 years Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine which includes a combined 3,000 hours of didactic & clinical education in eastern & western medicine. I walked in June, graduated this month Magna Cum Laude & am taking a moment to celebrate this accomplishment although I am currently studying for & still need to pass both my California & National Board Exams sometime in the next few months. It’s hard for me to fully celebrate/feel accomplished until I pass those exams & become a licensed practitioner of TCM/ Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine, however I’m grateful for those close to me who have celebrated me and encourage me to do so,too. In clinic under different supervisors I was able to see and provide treatment for a variety of ailments like pain, insomnia, menstrual cycle/fertility support, post-stroke patients, post-cardiac ablation shortness of breath, common cold, psycho-emotional conditions & mental health, IBS, adrenal fatigue, post-Covid/inflammatory disease symptoms, thrombocytosis, and arguably my favorite patient- a 14 y/o who was afraid of needles/doctors & had a Tonsillectomy 2 years prior in which they woke up with 10/10 throat pain & didn’t talk/ had extreme dizziness while walking for 2 years; after 1 treatment the throat pain went down to a 4/10 & after 3 treatments 0/10 pain & was running around outside with a football, smiling & talking before treatment, etc. This medicine is what I always felt like I was missing. In the WNBA I had moments of, “what about getting inside of a joint? Menstrual cramps pregame and all I can do is give hot pack/meds? What about emotions?” During the past 4 years I was also able to remain in school full-time while continuing my work in Sports Medicine in settings like the G League Bubble, OBL Hoops, Phenom Performance soccer cohorts, Team Why Not, GBG Hoops, CP3 Camp, Courts Corner & in my private practice working 1 on 1 with athletes & folks in which grateful to everyone who has trusted me & been open-minded/hearted & excited/intrigued about different treatment modalities & forms of medicine. I’m thankful for being able to learn together. 🧧🎋🧿
