@lrbbookshop’s podcast featuring my conversation with the incredible @aliceblackhurst is now available. This is a very late gram…. but the podcast actually just came out. Link in bio or wherever you get your podcasts.
Thank you to everyone at LRB for sending me home with this enormous sports direct mug to which as you can see I developed an immediate emotional attachment.
Thank you to the London Underground where I got dramatically lost and thank you to all the people underground.
I’m too shy to listen back, but I hope the recording includes audience q&a, because the questions were my favorite part. The first that night was: how had the writing of Wave of Blood changed my experience of love.
Thank you to all the bookshops I got to visit on this trip, (I’m on a plane and some tags aren’t working for some reason so I’ll be back for that on land), to @royalacademyarts for having me to speak, to @colinjherd and the poets of Glasgow, one of the best poetry scenes in the entire world, to @susanna_idc for including me in an extraordinary day of events at the @barbicancentre, to @raymond_antrobus for sitting down with me at @tomthumbtheatre, to @penguinukbooks for taking good care of A Sand Book, to @allison.katz and @taishani for tarot, roosters, and lemons, and to @dividedpublish for their courage, and for masterminding such an amazing tour.
Thank you most of all to every shining face and every battered copy of A Sand Book, Mercury, The Cow, and even Telephone you brought for me to sign. Why do people apologize for bringing old books to events? It is the most beautiful thing in the world. But I am an over apologizer too. I want to apologize for this post being so long, so late, for existing at all.
See you all again soon, in better days 🖤
