A week after buying her first home, Rianne almost lost it all to a forest fire. Fortunately, her community was spared thanks to the heroic efforts of the local firefighters. "I just thought to myself, how incredibly lucky are we to have these firefighters? Because they don't just save houses. They save dreams. They saved what I was trying to create for my son." Rianne, a store manager, started delivering 5-pound bags of coffee to her local stations alongside notes of appreciation from customers and partners (employees). Other stores in the region quickly adopted the practice in their own neighborhoods. "It's about bringing the community together along with Starbucks to say you matter," says Rianne. "I believe in being a positive action in every way you can be... When there's a chance, make people feel a part of something more."
