Jeff Beck. There will never be another. He always pushed it to the limit and was constantly raising the bar for himself and all the rest of us. He was a musical explorer, rarely going down the same path twice. He had the best sense of humor and was as kind as he was talented... When I got the opportunity to tour with him, I was sickeningly nervous for him to hear me play, as he was my hero. However, he made me feel welcome from the jump and before I knew it, we were friends. Standing side stage day after day, feeling like I had won the lottery, I watched every sound check and every show I could. From the first time I heard him play, I thought of him as the coolest and baddest guitar player to ever walk the earth and as I got to know him, I thought of him as the coolest person. I still do and always will. I’m sending all my love to his family and everyone in that camp during this time of great loss. They say never meet your heroes, but I’m sure glad I met mine.
