We spent a week in Austin last month and despite the rain, a hurricane scare and canceled plans to see friends and family... we made some wonderful memories. Planning days with these two offers a few particular challenges like planning well in advance, then holding those plans loosely, trimming down our activity list to accommodate 😴 the bewitching hours and most importantly- being completely indifferent when we go off course completely. “To heck with the plan and let’s just go with the flow” is mostly what I’ve learned. We’ve got to go with the flow of diapers, unexpected bad nights, fussy mornings and without holding my breathe- the precious moments where it all lines up for a stroll through this picturesque, yet deeply moving park. A gang of geese wandered close and Isabelle yelled “Da- da- da” which obviously meant, “isn’t this surreal mama?” We stumbled across a park I hadn’t seen in my online searches and we got a solid 20 minutes in before anything became too wet for play. The girls made it through several public meals with relatively few meltdowns and we enjoyed lots of naps back at our room. These two even joined me at the gym! All in all it was quite the return to my old home-state. I enjoyed seeing more of Austin from a tot’s perspective and look forward to returning for more. #AustinTexas #PortlandBlogger #FamilyBlogger
