VOICE of @cherryblossomphotographer Mahsa/Zhina was my age. I’m sure she went to school learning she’s a sinner. Her family is a sinner. That she shouldn’t wear color. She shouldn’t laugh out loud. It’s her sin that men get aroused seeing her beauty. That she had to listen to hours of torturous religious speeches that she knew none were true. The guilt she felt every time her hair was showing. School, family, long distanced family are another form of the “morality police” for us. As she got older and more beautiful she now had to base her life on not being a threat to any man that can’t control himself. I can’t imagine the shock and the fear her little heart felt when they yelled: stop! Why the hell are you exposing yourself?! They state she had problems before and that’s why she went in a coma. Is that even the point? Isn’t arresting someone for what they wear wrong on itself?! They are killing people to tell them they didn’t kill Mahsa. They didn’t want her face showing. Her father said she was covered in bruises. She wasn’t the first and she won’t be the last. Be Iran’s voice. We’ve been tolerating this regime since 1971. Hijab is one way for them to confuse people into forgetting other problems. So when they come out of the house they are worried about getting arrested for their hijabs; not for the rights deprived, the money they stole, the lies they told. Iran’s internet is slowly shutting down and they count on us to share their stories. You write the next chapter of all the Mahsas in Iran fighting right now. Stay with them. Let the world hear us. They let you believe Iran is a country with people that seek war. The only thing these people want is to have the first rights every human must have. Be with us in this matter.
