Sorry all, I’m a bit late on sharing this, but work from my series, “The Struggle to Right Oneself” is on view at the North Carolina Museum of Art. ‘Outlandish’ (a two part gallery show) opened last week and features contemporary photography gifted from the collection of esteemed collector and arts advocate, Allen Thomas Jr. I can’t speak highly enough of Allen, as he has been an integral facet of my journey. I first met @allenthomasjr6 about 15 or so years ago, when he began collecting my images and helping to introduce my work to the North Carolina art scene. Since then, he has been nothing short of an endearing friend and truly wonderful individual, opening his life and home to me and my family. I am deeply honored by his continued support of me and my work. More importantly, Allen is a tremendous ally and pillar of support for the arts community at large. His personal involvement and love of art transcend the simple act of collecting through Artsuite, an online platform and marketplace co-developed with Raleigh luminary, Marjorie Hodges. The site aims to connect artists with collectors, galleries with communities, and advocates and activists with impactful causes and events. We need more advocates like these two! Finally, a big thanks to the NCMA for also being in my corner over the years...largely thanks to Allen, I’m sure. But, if you have a chance to visit, it’s a beautiful Campus and significant cultural beacon for the community. Great art lives there!
