Saturday Sept 14th from 7-9:30 PM join @lamushco and myself on a guided night walk in the Santa Monica Mountains, for an experience in painting the natural landscape and its creatures in colors of red and ultraviolet. The local nightlife offers remnants and echoes of an ancient, prehistoric world, by displaying a myriad of nocturnal creatures in their old-world arthropod forms, several of which do fluoresce in colors of bluish-green! As seen in segments of this video, the combination of red light and UV offer’s a beautiful and striking color combination for casual photography and otherwise! Attendance will be placed at $40 per sign up and with that you will get a guided UV tour, as well as the assistance of local expertise while you learn about the creatures that we see and how to use blacklight responsibly, at beginner-level, for photos and videos. A supply of 365nm UV lights will be on hand to borrow first-come-first served (but we will rotate the use UV flashlights, so everyone has the opportunity of their use) and we can recommend a range of these if you’re interested in purchasing for the event. Just DM @lamuscho for some links with brief description when you register and allow time for shipping. So far, we are not affiliated with the sale of these tools.. YET! Also if you have a red light flashlight, we can use these and our regular flashlights as we move through the terrain and switch between different frequencies of light. Theory behind this will be discussed during the walk! We will meet up first as a group in the center of town and circle up to introduce ourselves and briefly, discuss some details to keep in mind before we head out together. Meet up location will be given after sign up and payment received. Please make sure that you/your party, has already eaten dinner and that you bring yourself a bottle of water or canteen and a small pack to carry it in. You will need long sleeves and pants for this and we will have a release of liability waiver, which will need to be signed by each participant.
