I had been wanting to work with Hanifa since 2020, meaning I have been actively chasing them for 2 years and it is still surreal to me that it finally landed me here. Being part of this project made everything make sense! It was an overlap of so many worlds I thought could never collide in one. How do I get to research on the process of identity re-construction for Black folks through fashion and film, and I land in a fashion film by a brand that explores exactly that through textile and design?! A Congolese American Brand at that?! A Black Femme led Brand at that? Let me just stop here before I write a dissertation in lieu of a caption.
