the cultural impact of disco is immeasurable. originating in the late 60s in the queer Black and Latinx private clubs of NYC & Philadelphia, but quickly gained popularity around the world. disco gave rise to the DJ, the art of remixing, and birthed of house music. It allowed people to dance independently or as part of a crowd, as before, people were only expected to dance with the opposite sex.
