If you’re an artist signing to a label, make sure you know what you can / can’t do during AND after the term. There are layers to this. Outside of the contract, make sure you have MULTIPLE champions in the building (ideally on both coasts). Prepare in advance for your A&R to leave. Then it won’t be a shock or a surprise & you’ll already be good. If you’re an indie label, keep in mind that the more you ask your artist to deliver & the longer you force the artist to stay in your deal, the more $$$ you commit to funding!! If you require 5 albums to be delivered, you have to PAY for 5 albums to be created. Baby steps ain’t always the worst idea... Anyways, just food for thought. Proud of all of you.
