I’ve been a full time wedding photographer for 8 years, and it took me 5 years to realize that my heart really comes MOST alive when I’m documenting intimate weddings and adventurous elopements. There’s something different in the energy of an intimate wedding, compared to larger weddings (and I love them both for different reasons!) but when a couple is surrounded by only a handful of their closest people, the energy is so calm, carefree, deeply emotional, meaningful, connected, and SO intentional. With intimate weddings, it’s not as much about the details as it is about the people. It’s not about strict timelines or the day flowing perfectly, it’s about being present and going with the flow of the day. When you aren’t worried about mingling with 100+ guests, you have more time to focus on each other, and on your very closest people who you’ve chosen to share those intimate moments with. There’s more freedom, to wake up at sunrise and take a surf lesson, to read your vows on a cliff overlooking the ocean, to hit the brewery or taco truck mid-day, to have your first dance on the top of a mountain, or to run barefoot on a beach as the sun goes down. Your wedding day can be WHATEVER you want it to be, whether it’s just you two, or surrounded by your favourite humans. My absolute favourite part of my job is helping couples to plan their dream day, from start to finish. (And then crying behind my camera feeling ALL THE FEELS when you’re LIVING OUT your dream wedding day.😭😍) THIS is my dream job.
