Restaurant Flower Portrait - I’ve been on a streak of work assignments for the past 6 weeks and haven’t had time to create new work or post anything. I’ve been photographing a lot of in person events, which is what I did all the time before the pandemic. It was amazing to be back in the world with people again documenting joy and human interactions. Before the pandemic I took these events for granted. Now I try and take nothing for granted. One of the benefits of photographing events is that I sometimes get to take the table flowers home with me. The two dried flowers in these posts come from the table arrangements on two of those events. I didn’t have time to photograph them before their fresh beauty faded so I hung and dried them to explore a different beauty when my events slowed down. Yesterday, I finally had time to set up my studio space and explore some of the dried flowers. I usually like to work between f2.0 and f8 but I shot these at f29 to play around with the crisp details. Plants have so much to teach and I love learning from them.
