If a #government or civil society wants to properly tackle radical #extremism, they MUST start by making it a #bipartisan priority. Name calling and mislabeling your #political opponents as extremists is a clear path to deeper division and polarization. This is a real problem that has penetrated the highest levels of #American Politics in recent times. The increased cumulative or reciprocal #radicalization is driving larger numbers of individuals to the extremes & almost NO ONE is calling it out. Uncomfortable truths perhaps? To put a dent in polarization, & repair divides, Beyond Barriers begins by finding commonalities. Not trotting out radical activists (as so-called experts) who mislabel things they don’t agree with as #hate and extremism. Transcending barriers requires outside the box thinking. Changing hearts and minds requires #empathy, #compassion, and a willingness to #listen. Dehumanization of others in effect surrenders one’s #humanity in the process.
