i'm free styling this so sorry if it doesn’t make sense... i always said i’d own my own store by 35... idk why but that’s the age i had in my head to do it. i didn’t have a brand when i said it... nor did i know what the fuck i was gonna do with my life. when i proclaimed this i was a lost 20 something year old that got fired from his job a week or two after that... well, let’s just day a 2 days before my 36th birthday i signed the lease for my first store. one year ago we opened @242mulberry... the 6 months leading up to it were brutal. we had the tall task of turning some weird taqueria on mulberry street into a destination people would want to come and shop at. luckily,i had some of the best help i could get... but anyway... brutal. I made a few mistakes... one being that I signed my lease in November... ate up all my free rent with holiday months where people weren’t trying to start new projects. I didn’t know how expensive this shit could get... I’d work a little bit... run out of money... work some more... run out of money. we started in feb and opened at the end of may. It was beautiful though. Our opening party is one I’ll always remember. I was a little bit late not because I wanted to be but because I was nervous. i showed up to the store overflowed into the street with every friend I’ve met along the way over the course of 14 years living in nyc. I was floored. @andrew3sixteen gave me a bottle of hennessy.
anyway... i say all this to say i couldn’t have done this without all of you. thanks for buying something... stopping by... and being a part of this little community we’ve somehow amassed.
thank you @hayleybridgetinteriors for doing it all through your third trimester.
thanks to my team for trusting me.
thank you to the people i love for always showing up.
and thank you to @noahjay1 — the best fucking realtor in ny — as i looked for spaces for 18 months.
