🫠 I like seeing real-unfiltered faces and real life on social media. As a mom and a former teacher I can't really see any benefit in filters. We come to social media for connection and sharing information + entertainment. A lot of people, (myself included) have seen the negative effects it can have on our thinking and how we see the world + ourselves. In a 2021 survey conducted by ParentsTogether: * 61% of teens said beauty filters make them feel worse about their appearance * 63% of teens said they use beauty filters to "look more beautiful" * 56% of teens said they use beauty filters to ā€œhide the characteristics they don’t likeā€ * Teens who use beauty filters at least weekly are 2x as interested in cosmetic surgery than those who use filters less frequently. Growing up in the 2000's we were used to seeing photoshopped perfect photos, commercials and billboards. I only saw these images when I opened up magazines and studied them or turned on the tv. Now with phones we are seeing more and more images/videos every single day. Some of them are real but a lot of them are probably altered. I love social media for the connection and the REAL people. I'm taking the #BoldEnough Pledge with @cocokind and #HalfTheStory because we don't need beauty filters that contribute to unrealistic beauty standards. You can join me and take the pledge too! Also- Cocokind is donating all profits from their best selling Ceramide Barrier Serum to HalfTheStory for the month of May (up to $20,000) to help teens create a safer relationship with social media. #skintok #skincare #unfilteredyou #realskin
