Today, after a long conversation about our homelessness crisis, City Council approved a contract with @lsssw_1970 to provide emergency shelters through their Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program (I-HELP). This program has been successful in other AZ cities and will utilize Lutheran Social Services’ large network of churches, synagogues, and mosques to provide dinner and beds for our unsheltered residents. It’s just one of the many pieces of the puzzle in addressing homelessness. Right now I’m working on: increasing our affordable housing stock in District 7, providing bathrooms and cold drinking water at city parks, and more specialized shelters equally distributed across the city.
