I took these photographs while in Mexico a few months ago. I was fortunate enough to document the gameplay of an ancient pre-Columbian Mesoamerican ballgame known at “ulama,” which dates back to 1600 BC. The game is believed to be one of the oldest known team sports and was popular among the Mayans and Aztecs.
