"ok but HOW do you get inquiries for destination work, intimate weddings and adventurous elopements?!" is my most asked question, and comes up in almost every mentor session. and my reply is always: SHOW WHAT YOU WANT TO SHOOT. (and STOP showing the types of sessions you don't want to shoot!) 😂 If you are currently only getting inquiries for large urban weddings and you're dying to shoot more adventurous elopements and intimate weddings - I'd ask you what you're currently showing on your feed. Are you showing bridal party photos? City photos? Posed photos? Large ceremony photos? Reception photos? Those all subconsciously attract couples wanting larger weddings. Which is absolutely ok, if that's what you're intentionally wanting to attract and shoot! But if you're wanting to shoot more adventurous sessions, intimate weddings, and elopements - are you showing those? And if you don't have any to show yet (which is commonly the follow up question) then what's stopping you from planning some adventurous elopement sessions, so you've got that content to show? 😉 Reach out to couples (either ones you know, or ones you find through insta) choose a location you're inspired by (which might require some research and location scouting!) coach the couple on the vibe of what to wear (are they throwing their wedding attire back on? or are they wearing casual cozies?) bring along a portable speaker to play some tunes, and MAKE SOME MAGIC!! You are 100% capable of making an abundant income, while doing what you love. SO, ask yourself what it is you WANT your photography to look like, what you want to be shooting, and WHO you want to be attracting.
