3 tips for Golden Hour Portraits ✨☀️🌅✨ 1) Plan them during the last hour of sun, not actually at sunset. You want to catch those gorgeous rays of light low in the sky before the sun dips before the horizon line. If you wait till actual sunset time, you’ll be shooting during blue hour, which is also gorgeous, but a different look. 2) Be sure to check if there’s obstructions like mountains or buildings that the sun will dip behind before actual sunset time. In places like Colorado, Palm Springs, and Napa Valley the sun dips behind the mountains much earlier than the actual sunset time. 3) If you’re short on time, which usually happens because golden hour tends to fall during reception, make a game plan for fast posing flow! I tend to get all my “formal” portraits out of the way earlier in the day so there’s no need to worry about the classic “couple smiling at camera” shot during golden hour. Instead, I get to take more fun, candid, and romantic portraits during this time. My three go-to’s during this time are: the romantic kiss, walking, and dancing (which bonus usually gets to double as a practice run for the first dance)! #rypbehindtheframe
