This isn’t often said, but it’s important to hear. When you first have your baby, it may not be love at first sight.
You will most likely unconditionally love your child from the moment you are aware of their existence.
However, sometimes it takes time to fall in love with them. The problem is that the expectations of new parents are outrageous. I wish I heard someone say this before Alaia’s arrival, as the guilt can be strong. I didn’t cry when she was born. I was excited to meet her, get to know her and loved her. But it seemed to take time to fall in love. I started to question if there was something wrong with me. But then I started to trip and fell so hard.
Although I was head over heals for her within weeks, but it’s been like a snowball rolling down a hill. Gaining momentum, size and strength.
Last night, Alejandra couldn’t stop telling the story of Alaia tossing her favourite stuffies aside to cuddle with mama.
I get it. The love is unreal!
To the parents-to-be and new parents on the block, get ready to fall madly in love. Just like any relationship, it will happen on its own time.
