Dancing at a depth of around 1,600 meters this elegant octopus was spotted by the @nautiluslive team. Expanding its billowing arms like a circus tent this eight armed wonder is letting any predators know they’re too big to slurp up.
Experts believe the octopus belongs to Cirroteuthidae, a family of cirrate octopuses, but the exact species is unknown. Cirrate octopuses are often a favorite amongst octopus admirers because of the dumbo like fins on their heads.
Head to the stories where we’re dropped a couple of our favorite octopus vids from the archives to mark #worldoctopusday.
