My first Vans US Open was such an amazing experience. I didn’t get the result I wanted in the contest. But learned a lot from my heat and continue to deepen my understanding of Huntington. This was by far has been the most incredible surf event Iʻve been too. It was 9 days jam packed with community, culture, and activation around the ocean. Some of my highlights were working with community organizations to get Indigenous & inner city keiki into the ocean, watching my brother & his friends skate the Vans skate park on the beach, hanging out with the Van Doren ʻohana, and watching Hawaiʻi kill finals day with 5 finalist & 3 winners! And, for me a constant sharing these experiences with my family. Mahalo @vanssurf for showcasing what a phenomenal event looks like & hosting my family & I in first class style! I learned so much from studying heats and I cannot wait for next year!
