These homely, beige meat blobs (aka the sesame chicken meatballs) are one of the most popular dishes from I Dream of Dinner—and I love that for them, and all of us. They were a last-minute addition and are not photogenic, but with this book I tried to get the food stylists and photographers out of my head (sorry @markweinbergnyc @samanthaseneviratne @eliwino !). Yes we eat with our eyes yada yada, but there’s also something special about making food that you don’t want to photograph, that you share just with the ones you cooked it for. The colorless, shapeless, algorithmically challenging foods can do so much good and deserve their chance, too.
