We dedicated a major part of this week’s design issue to Mexico City - a gigantic, magical collage of colors, shapes, scents, tastes, light, dirt, darkness, beauty. Mexico City is a crazy place and I didn’t even come close to grasping it while researching the cover story for this issue, but what I learned is that Mexico City is a metropolis shaped and colored by its people and their tastes, not by some elitist planners. This is also what @yubinyeohyes found out while scouting inspiring Mexican houses for another installment of her homestory series and interviewing their residents. This city has incredible design at every corner, in its small cocinas as much as on its shiny Mid-century facades. It’s a city of idyll and danger and concrete and the most beautiful trees I have ever seen. When we ask ourselves how we want to live and how we want our surroundings to look like, more cities should look to Mexico City 🇲🇽 Also in this design special: The ultimate guide for how to never buy the wrong sofa/chair/lamp/table ever again by @ameliea__ , and a fascinating profile by @tillmannpruefer about Bodil Kjær, the 90-year old Danish design legend that created none other than villain Ernst Blofeld’s desk. Now get this issue while it‘s hot!!️!!️!!️!!️!!️
