Today is the final day of our exhibition 'Milton Avery: American Colourist'. It's been a pleasure to fill our galleries with Avery's vivid, colourful paintings. Considered one of North America’s greatest 20th-century colourists, his harmonious use of line and colour earned him the nickname ‘the American Matisse’ – and his work was often displayed alongside Matisse and Picasso in his lifetime.
