Over a plate of that lemon pepper wet, Big Teak and Lil’ Murda navigate an emotional battleground holding the landmines of memory, guilt, lust and its sometimes hurtful cousin love. John Clarence Stewart @jstewiii and J. Alphonse Nicholson @j_fonz navigated the subtext and silence with aplomb. This last supper between former lovers is a make-up and break-up all at once. It’s a confession of happiness that is hard to share with Big Teak, but the thing he needs to hear from his “icy niggah.” Unbeknownst to Lil’ Murda, this is a sweet goodbye that ends with a subtle yet needed reconciliation. These actors used gesture and silence to communicate the sorry in ways no words ever could. Truly one of my favs of the season.
