Designed by Raymond Camus (1911-1980) in 1958, and built in Jean Prouvé’s workshops in eastern France, the Marabout House is a metal structure with a 13-sided form destined for use by the French army and oil companies in Algeria. Its thermic qualities are ingenious with aluminum walls that deflect heat and panels structured like a sandwich with polystyrene in the middle. The pivoting sash windows create a cooling cross breeze. Despite its overall lightness, Marabout House’s circular shape makes it resistant to high winds. Prouvé often extolled the merits of this design in the lessons he gave as a teacher at the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers in Paris. Click the link in bio to shop. 📸: Galerie Clement Cividino Ent
