Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has urged leaders who will be in the incoming government to work together and shun hostility towards each other throughout the next 5-year term. According to Elachi, the outgoing government, which enjoyed a 10-year rule, had internal conflicts among leaders which then grew to taint the entire system of governing the nation. Speaking on Citizen TV's Daybreak show on Monday, Elachi urged President-Elect Willam Ruto to advocate for a seamless government, one that will have a unanimous goal of guarding the constitution and delivering services to Kenyans. "My prayer to government is that what we have gone through in the last 10 years should never happen in the next five years," she said. "Thank God for the president-elect and the deputy believe in the Bible, trust the bible, and know what it says. And so when you hold it just does it for God. Can you once have that inner soul that tells you that you have held the Bible, uphold it as you protect the constitution and as you forgive others," she referred to William Ruto's oath during his inauguration. Elachi further called for a revamped system of acknowledging civil servants, noting that they have not been honored for the work they do and have killed the spirit of service delivery to Kenyans. "It is time we protect the civil servants, it is time we give them dignity and respect because in all the papers the CSs read there is someone who prepares that. It is time you recognize a few of these people who have done so much great work." Elachi's remarks lie on the backdrop of the distinct disunion between outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto who had political differences, eliciting a rift in running government seamlessly.
