Thinking of all 3 of my late grandparents who are no longer with us (thrilled my mum’s mum is here to celebrate with us!) Turns out Malta has a tie to the Sheldrick family. My dad’s dad, David, was part of the Allied liberation of Sicily in 1943, which was led out of Malta. So ahead of the wedding, my dad and a small group of us visited the underground rooms on Malta from where the likes of Eisenhower and Montgomery coordinated so-called Operation Husky - the military campaign that eventually led to the fall of Fascism and the exit of Italy from the war. My dad was last here in 1967 when he and his family took the boat from the UK to Australia as ‘Ten Pound Pohms.’ And now decades later he is back here for his son’s wedding. Thankful to have so many members of our family with us this week. (Thx @mwandwe16 for great photos!)
