TEETH 🦷 BRUSHING

1. The best & most effective is having a mirror at your KID’S EYELINE. They want to see themselves, they will love watching, they will learn from looking & it makes what you’re explaining so much clearer. It’s a no brainer.
2. Making it fun but non-negotiable. Have couple of options to choose from: “We have to brush our teeth every evening, would you like your pink brush or orange brush?”
3. Make a game - sing a song while they brush, count them through it, get them to show their sharp teeth.
4. Do at the same time as siblings or bring your own brush in a do a clean with them so they know it’s important to everyone & they have someone to mirror.
5. Don’t do it when they’re exhausted, or when you’re in a massive rush. We often do before bath as Stella is quite tired/hyper afterwards.
6. They start, you finish - we do this every time with Stella. (Charlotte does all her own & we just ask her if she thinks she did enough) We let Stella brush around & encourage her to make the right action, do too & bottom etc, then when she’s basically getting bored of it we say “our turn every quickly” and give her a once over and a very enthusiastic check that everything looks so sparkly.
Mostly, just try and make it fun and relaxed. I know it’s really annoying when they go through a phase of not wanting to do it but it’s so important so we just have to keep trying every day and not make it a stressful time. Just approach fresh each day, try a new brush, get them looking in the mirror etc.
!?️Any more ideas?! (These work for our family, I’m no expert!)
Hope this helps, and happy brushing!
