A word from our wonderful new adopters and an update that we LOVE! “Please meet Crystal Bluebelle! After losing Lucybelle to cancer in October, we weren’t sure we’d ever adopt again, but Crystal appeared without warning. Here’s the story: Cindy was listening to a band from our youth, Tommy James and the Shondells, including their hit “Crystal Blue Persuasion.” After the song ended, Cindy logged into Facebook, and a picture of Crystal with blue eyes appeared in her feed. And this happened on the 10th anniversary of adopting Lucy. Plus, she looks and acts just like a Husky we rescued and placed many years ago named Natasha. It seemed like fate, and her picture spoke to us. By noon we contacted the shelter in Long Island, NY: the Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center. We made reservations in Cindy’s hometown of Morristown, NJ -- halfway to the shelter. They don’t adopt out the same day and must call all our references. The day after meeting Crystal, we were on the 6-hour drive back home with her. She is one of the sweetest, friendliest, and easiest dogs we’ve ever met. She’s ten years old and has been at the Long Island shelter since July, plus an unknown amount of time at another shelter before that. Her original name was just Crystal. We added Blue after the Tommy James song and “belle” after our other rescued dogs from the past: Annabelle, Lilybelle, and Lucybelle. We couldn’t be happier! We are so glad that we gave a home to a larger and older dog who needed us as much as we needed her. She has settled into her new home with no trouble at all and wants nothing more than to be at our side. Crystal loves to go for long walks – even when the wind chill is 16 below zero!
