So.
Recently I’ve had the pleasure of being tagged in several posts where a reviewer has told me what they didn’t like about my book.
And I get it. Ellis is angry and complicated and frustrating. Easton is an IDIOT boy. They are 18, at a time when all your emotions are BIG and consuming and have end of the world stakes. I get that this type of story isn’t for everyone.
But you know what, it is for me. There is NOTHING about Ellis that I would write differently. Her brand of trauma mirrors my own and my heart aches for this girl who is just looking for a home.
I’m incredibly proud of this book. I’m honored by the readers who tell me they see themselves in between the words on the page and at its core, SOME MISTAKES WERE MADE is a story about hope.
So, I hope you love this book, but if you don’t, I hope you do find a book that speaks to you.
And I hope people stop tagging authors in reviews that tell them what someone didn’t like about the book. 🤣
To my author/writer friends, art cannot be interpreted universally as perfect. But to me, you are. 💜 be brave and strive to tell stories without a single thought of reviews.
