I must be slipping, as a rad brag dad, because this sequence by @patstacyfilm, of @river_biolos, @kswaveco, has been sitting around, since March, but yet to be seen. —————————- This was one of the coveted “first waves”, usually reserved for the biggest financial baller, or most famous type guest. @sashstocker (who fits neither of those descriptions, but is an incredible surfer) was in line for this wave, after our dinner break. They only run this if the customer buys the evening session. Our gracious host did just that. Anyways, Sasha blew the first tube section and lucky boy, Riv, with still dry hair, was in perfect poach position. He swung and stalled into this freak of man made heaven, right through the end bowl. He got deeper tubes, longer tubes and more technical tubes (both right and left) that day, but I’ve rarely, if ever, seen a water sequence this sharp, with this lighting and not a drop of water outta place. At this time, Riv was 12 yo, 4’11 and 90lbs. He was riding a 5’0 17.25 2.13” 19liter #StepDriver. The focus was to make tubes. Not worry about turns. ————————— There’s lots of boo-hoo about the @wsl tour returning here. I tend to agree. Unless it’s your child, or a team rider on a heater...after a few waves, it’s not very fun to watch... But the sensation of riding these tubes is really friggen hard to beat. I’d like to see world class comps in the pools, but I believe it needs to be a shorter ride, with irregular sections, for more spontaneous and radical maneuvers. Perhaps @kswaveco can make some adjustments to make competition more exciting for the competitors and fans, alike. Watching the new pool in Brazil, this week, it seems like the right direction to be heading.
