I used to think that success in my early 30s was owning a car, buying a huge house with a lawn, and having a family. Through the years I’ve realized that it’s been redefined. Success in this day and age is joining an influencer house, starting a beauty line, founding my own tequila company, creating a podcast, and publishing a children’s book. HAHA! In all seriousness, maybe that children’s book or book may not be too far out. But, really, I mean really just letting the powers that be hear this... I want a major campaign on the billboards of Times Square and Broadway-Lafayette, and by-lines from NYT, Vogue, etcetera! 😉 Come at your boy. Hire me.
Today marks eight years of living in New York City. It’s been a wild ride. So here are nine core memories for every year I’ve lived in NYC since 2014.
2022 - Casually videobombing @jeremyscott’s interview before The Met Gala.
2021 - My creative Filipino Karaoke crew that kept me sane throughout the year. Birds of the same feather flock together.
2020 - Went to Paris twice for @iamhearte and Farfetch. This photo was a week before the world locked down. 📸 @olivialazuardy
2019 - The year I wanted to be a travel / fitness influencer. Kidding! This was when I assisted my brother and sister-in-law for their pre-wedding shoot. 📸 @myiookamoto
2018 - The start of many collaborations with Heart and @iamkatrinacruz from NYC to Paris and LA!
2017 - The first year I ever did Street Style. I had no access to the @mrselfportrait show. I was outside waiting for my friends who were inside. I photographed the guests as they trickled in and the rest is history.
2016 - NYU ITP Graduation 📸 @guradisu.c
2015 - First New York snow day 📸 @1belle
2014 - Singing New York State of Mind, and New York, New York leading up to Empire State of Mind with Jay-Z!
📸 @angelaaromero | I look slightly pissed 😂 but really I was freezing and doing my best not to fall over because of the wind. 🙈
