It was a supremely dazzling day and a party for the eye. Liz Carmichael is the epitome of an independent spirit — she was resilient, tenacious, and shameless. She was perfectly human. She said “the world will know my name before I’m through,” and though it took decades to vindicate her humanity — here we are in the future, in a world that is finally catching up to her.
